We collaborated closely with the client to develop this amazing new building in south Dunedin, it replaces the 101-year-old Wolfenden & Russell building that was extensively damaged by fire, and was left derelict before it's demolition.
The new two-story building will have links to the old buildings and the original site, for example the new King Edward Street entrance will have the oyster shells embedded into it that were discovered on the site during some demolition and excavation of the old building. They have been reclaimed from an old oyster shell path found on site. The new building will also reuse some of the original brickwork from the old building. The building was chosen by the DCC in 2023 to be the new South Dunedin Public Library and Community Hub. We have worked closely with them and their design team to produce the base build documentation for this project.
